Judgment Call: Recognizing Types Of Men Women Should Avoid
Some women may avoid certain men for a variety of reasons. The types of men that women may avoid could include those who exhibit disrespectful or aggressive behavior, lack empathy and emotional intelligence, or even display a pattern of dishonesty or deceit. Many women may try to avoid men with a history of infidelity or mistreatment in past relationships. It’s important, however, to recognize that not all men fit into these categories.
Pretentiousness
One Redditor said, “Devil’s advocates. I want conversation, not shoo-tier debate attempts. There are ways to be a skeptic without being a pretentious idiot.”
Old Vernacular
This Redditor said, “On a surface level? Anyone who refers to women as “females.” Instant distrust!”
Unclean
A user had this to say, “Anyone whose body odor and clothes smell like they haven’t been washed for a millennium.”
Personal Hygiene
This Redditor shared, “Lack of hygiene is a HUGE one for me. He doesn’t have to smell good enough to eat, but he does have to bathe regularly.”
Too Old School
A user shared, “Obviously racist/homophobic. Redpill, incel, that type. Any man who thinks women belong at home.”
Reading The Person
This user stated, “Apart from the Triangle of Madness (racist, sexist, homophobic), my personal pet peeves are “those who can read “you” already” (“Yeah, you say you don’t want to get married, but I know you’re just waiting for the right man”) and those who compliment you like they’re giving you their approval (“I like that dress!/ I like your taste in movies!”
Money
This Redditor said, “Men who value money or their career over people and connections like it’s one thing to enjoy and take pride in your work. It’s another thing to think people are replaceable or are low priority and that most people in your life will happily wait when you choose work again and again over maintaining connections.”
Quiet Strength
A user shared, “Men who like women for their “quiet strength.” I’ve only just recently heard a few guys say this, but apparently, it’s the idea that a woman is strong based on how much she can tolerate and endure.”
Do Not Approach
This user said, “I am really uncomfortable when men I don’t know try to approach me. I don’t care about their intentions, as they should know it inherently does not feel safe for us when they approach us without a reason.”
Mansplaining
One Redditor shared, “Mansplainers annoy the tar out of me.”
To which a second Redditor replied, “I work in tech, and it’s like mansplain city. One thing I’ve learned is people who say the “nerdy” men are nice…. Dead wrong. Lol. They’re the worst!”
Lack Of Compassion
One Redditor said, “Men who are not kind and compassionate.
This Redditor replied, “This is the same for me too. I also wouldn’t want to date someone who takes advantage of other people’s kindness.”
Physical Attraction
This user said, “Anyone who immediately assumes I want the “D” for existing in their general vicinity, which unfortunately is most of them.”
Mommas Boys
This Redditor proclaimed, “Mommas boys.”
This Redditor replied and said, “Agreed! Men who are reading this: we love when you respect and love your mother. We don’t love it when you tell her everything about our relationship.”
Defending Their S.O.
A user said, “If they aren’t willing to stand up to their mother when their mother acts badly toward their significant other isn’t worth it.”
Living On Their Own
A Redditor stated, “Any man who hasn’t lived alone or at least has been away from his mom/parental household.”
Emotional Debators
This user shared, “Guys who can’t have a debate without getting emotional.”
Line-Stepping
A user commented, “The ones who constantly and repeatedly cross my boundaries, even if they’re small, like demanding a text back when they know I’m busy or getting too far into my personal space multiple times a day.”
Manipulators
This Redditor said, “Guys that ask you the same question in various ways, trying to get the answer they want.”
Gaslighting
A top-liked comment said, “Men that tell you what your mood is at the time, and when you tell them they’re wrong, they don’t believe you and basically gaslight you into thinking you are in a bad mood.”
Reactive Anger
Finally, a Redditor said, “I run at even the slightest indication of a propensity for reactive anger. Anger can absolutely be a healthy, helpful emotion; I’m talking about becoming hostile with service workers for whatever reason, needing the last word, and not showing any ability to let things go for the sake of letting go.”
